I was born in Barcelona and have lived in the UK for many years now. I'm a writer, translator (English-Spanish and vice-versa) and I'm a medical doctor and worked in Forensic Psychiatry many years. I also have a BA and a PhD in American Literature and Film, and a Masters in Criminology. I've always loved books and apart from writing them I review them often. I write a bit of everything, check my books for more information and my about page for links. My blog is bilingual, English and Spanish.

  1. From your review, I get the sense that you really liked this book, Olga.
I was reminded of ‘The Girl With The Pearl Earring’, another ‘imagined history’ of a woman behind the work of a genius.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Thanks, Pete. You’re right. It is beautifully written and imagined (the woman and the child existed in real life, but not much is known about them). And the way it describes the experiments is a joy to read too. I think you might well be right about ‘The Girl with the Pearl Earring’ although I haven’t read the novel (but judging by how much I loved another one of Chevalier’s novels, I should). Have a great Thursday and I hope WordPress are behaving better with you.

      1. WP is working a lot better today, Olga. Still a few issues, but I am no longer allowing them to stress me out! 🙂

  2. Great review, as always, Olga. You do such a beautiful job with all of your reviews. It’s always so much fun to write a review for a book you’ve truly enjoyed.

    1. Thanks, Michelle. You’re right. Sometimes reviews help clear things in my head but for other books, it’s just a joy to write them. Have a lovely weekend!
