I was born in Barcelona and have lived in the UK for many years now. I'm a writer, translator (English-Spanish and vice-versa) and I'm a medical doctor and worked in Forensic Psychiatry many years. I also have a BA and a PhD in American Literature and Film, and a Masters in Criminology. I've always loved books and apart from writing them I review them often. I write a bit of everything, check my books for more information and my about page for links. My blog is bilingual, English and Spanish.

  1. An excellent review, Olga, of an eerily possible future situation. Really frightening. Happy new year to you too.

    1. Thanks, Robbie! Yes. One’s mind boggles, mostly because it is quite a believable state of affairs, even if it might seem to have been taken to extremes. Let’s hope 2019 brings us joy and good news. ♥

  2. I like the sound of this one, Olga. It sounds very feasible, and probably not too far off in the future. I will add it to my Amazon wish list. 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Thanks, Pete. I must say I kept thinking it would make a really good movie as well, but it would need somebody with great vision to bring it to life. I hope 2019 has started on a high note for you and your family. 🙂

  3. Fab review, Olga. This sounds like an interesting read. <3

    1. Thanks, Colleen. It sure is! Happy New Year!

  4. Hi Olga. Thanks for this mindful review. I would never have realized what kind of story it was based on the title, or from the cover. So your review is very helpful. I was already thinking I could relate to the hero’s initial situation. (I’ve been such a misfit in DC for ten years, so it isn’t far off.) Crazy Beard sounds like a fun character.
As for “suspension of disbelief” being required, I’m always puzzled that people pick up a fantasy or science fiction book, and then expect to find everything realistic (or be displeased when they don’t). Yet I know from personal experience that some people do precisely that. So, it’s good that you mentioned that as well.

I hope your 2019 is off to a wonderful start. Mega hugs!

      1. Interesting. I must confess to not having watched any anime series. In this book people spend all their life in a virtual reality situation, but it seems they have a choice as to what they do there, it is not necessarily a game, but as I mention in my review, we don’t really see what they’re up to, but it is very addictive, for sure. Have a great weekend! Love to Crystal!

    1. Thanks, Teagan. Yes, you are right about the suspension of disbelief, although people who enjoy science fiction sometimes like “hard” science fiction, where the science bit seems to be the dominant part. So far 2019 is busy. I hope things are moving in the right direction for you, and I am looking forward to hearing more about it. Good luck!

      1. That’s true about Science Fiction. It and its readers/watchers vary widely.
Erm… so far every time I try to find a moving company or plan a route, I get panicked… (eye roll) But I am still scheduling donations, throwing away what shouldn’t be donated, and beginning to pack a few things. (Not enough room to really start packing.) I turned in my paperwork at the office on Monday. But I’m technically on leave through January. (That’s how I wanted it.) Great big hug!

        1. Thanks, Teagan. I can imagine. In my case, although I had organised everything, more or less, things kept getting delayed, and eventually I had to rush because the buyers of my house decided to move very quickly, so I didn’t have much time to think about it. Of course, I was no longer employed so that was not an issue… Fingers crossed and sending you positive vibes. ♥

  5. Lilyn G says:

Feliz 2019!

Don't be shy! Tell me something!
