I was born in Barcelona and have lived in the UK for many years now. I'm a writer, translator (English-Spanish and vice-versa) and I'm a medical doctor and worked in Forensic Psychiatry many years. I also have a BA and a PhD in American Literature and Film, and a Masters in Criminology. I've always loved books and apart from writing them I review them often. I write a bit of everything, check my books for more information and my about page for links. My blog is bilingual, English and Spanish.

  1. Most of those events are well-known here, but mainly in ‘snapshot’ form. It is good to have a definitive book about such an important part of British history. Pen and Sword always do these so well.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Thanks, Pete. Yes. It’s not a book for specialists, but it’s a good starting point for somebody wanting to get the bare facts, and the photographs and documents bring it home even more. Have a fabulous week!

  2. A great review of this book, Olga. The Suffragettes and everything they fought for have been on my mind recently as I watch certain states in the USA undermine and erode the hard won rights of women. We must keep fighting for our rights as they are many people out there who would gladly take them away.

    1. You are so right, Robbie. As I read I was struck by how hard they fought and how much there is to fight yet. Have a lovely week. ♥

Great review Olga, and good reminder for these new times. I’ll definitely have a look. 🙂 x

    1. Thanks so much, Debbie. I’m not sure you’ll find any new information, but it’s a good resource, and it doesn’t take long to read it! Have a fabulous week!

        Thanks again Olga 😉 x

  4. Hi Olga. Yes, I can see parallels currently happening here too… it’s like a Twilight-Zone-ish, bizarre nightmare.
Anyhow, thanks for this review. I appreciate your comment that this book is a good starting point. I also like that it has photos (I love pictures from that era) and *documents*. That’s particularly cool.
I hope you are having a wonderful week. Hugs on the wing.

    1. Thanks, Teagan. Yes, I had seen some of the pictures, but the documents were a first for me. And I think it would be a good book for schools to have as well. I hope you have a fabulous week! 😉
