I was born in Barcelona and have lived in the UK for many years now. I'm a writer, translator (English-Spanish and vice-versa) and I'm a medical doctor and worked in Forensic Psychiatry many years. I also have a BA and a PhD in American Literature and Film, and a Masters in Criminology. I've always loved books and apart from writing them I review them often. I write a bit of everything, check my books for more information and my about page for links. My blog is bilingual, English and Spanish.

    1. The author is known for his creature books, but he is a great writer and creates very compelling characters, well beyond the standard monster scary fare. But I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re not into horror. Thanks for the comment, Sally and enjoy the week!

  1. I haven’t seen a horror review from you in a while, Olga. This one sounds exciting. Hugs on the wing!

    1. Thanks, Teagan. I have a couple more books of this genre in my soon to be read list (such as it is) and I do love the genre, but you know how it is… So many great recommendations! Have a fantastic week, Teagan. Big hugs!

  2. It sounds ideal for horror fans, but it’s not for me.

    1. Thanks, Rosie. I know the genre is not everyone’s cup of tea. Funnily enough, I’ve connected with quite a few people through our common love for the genre, both in books and movies, and they all seem to have a fantastic sense of humour, even if a bit dark. Enjoy the rest of the week. 😉

  3. I still have ‘Creature’ on my wish list, based on your recommendation. Once I get around to buying it and reading it, I will think about this one next. 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Thanks, Pete. This one feels much more familiar, although I get the feeling that this author never quite writes what one expects. Have a good week. 🙂

  4. This review has been feeling quite conflicted about this book, but I am going to pass.

    1. Thanks, Robbie. If you enjoy slasher movies you might enjoy it, but it is not a subtle psychological horror story, for sure. There are plenty of books out there, and I prefer the other book I have read by this author.
      Have a great weekend.
