I was born in Barcelona and have lived in the UK for many years now. I'm a writer, translator (English-Spanish and vice-versa) and I'm a medical doctor and worked in Forensic Psychiatry many years. I also have a BA and a PhD in American Literature and Film, and a Masters in Criminology. I've always loved books and apart from writing them I review them often. I write a bit of everything, check my books for more information and my about page for links. My blog is bilingual, English and Spanish.

  1. A book like this is the best way to learn history. (Much better than some of the dry text books I had as a kid!) Happy New Year, Olga!

      Absolutely! Happy New Year, Priscilla!

  2. A fascinating sounding book, Olga. Your review reminds me of the Horrible History series which is for children.

    1. I haven’t read any of those, but being the same author and for what I’ve read, I think they must follow a similar line. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it, and I think your children are probably old enough for it, but I wouldn’t recommend it for very small children.
Have a fantastic New Year’s Eve, and I hope that 2020 comes full of great news. ♥

  3. I think that it’s very interesting to see that cover on a book about dark subject matter. Haha. Gotta love irony! Great post!

    1. I know what you mean. It is very similar to the covers of the Horrible Stories books, so I guess it will be immediately recognisable. And the irony fits in perfectly with the tone of the book. Have a great 2020 and thanks for commenting!

Olga, this sounds like a fantastic read. Thanks for all your wonderful recommends! I’m adding this one – hopefully the Zon will allow me, lol. Happy New Year!!! <3

Thanks, Debby! I’m sure you’d have fun with this one. The publisher is quite good sending books abroad as well, so that’s always an option. Happy 2020!

Thanks Olga. Yes, Happy 2020! x

  5. This sounds like one for me, Olga. So it is going on my (very long) wish list.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Yes, I thought you’d like the sound of this one as well. Happy new year, Pete!

  6. It sounds fascinating! Happy New Year, Olga

      Happy New year, Luccia!

  7. This sounds like a great read, Olga. I do enjoy a “twisted sense of humor”.
I’m sorry about your Internet problems. Six months ago I started complaining of the same issue — and WordPress was misbehaving terribly too. The problems persist, but I just ran out of breath for trying to do anything about them. I hope yours get resolved completely.
Wishing you every happiness and every success in 2020. Happy New Year.

    1. Thanks, Teagan! It’s a great book, and I’m sure it would make you laugh. I hope you’re feeling better. My problems with the internet got sorted, thank you. I was quite surprised because the engineer came on a bank holiday. It was a problem with the actual hardware of the building, but it wasn’t too complicated to sort out. I hope yours gets sorted soon. Happy 2020!
