I was born in Barcelona and have lived in the UK for many years now. I'm a writer, translator (English-Spanish and vice-versa) and I'm a medical doctor and worked in Forensic Psychiatry many years. I also have a BA and a PhD in American Literature and Film, and a Masters in Criminology. I've always loved books and apart from writing them I review them often. I write a bit of everything, check my books for more information and my about page for links. My blog is bilingual, English and Spanish.

  1. Good review. It sounds like a sophisticated book. Now you’ve got me curious about Mothers, too.

    1. Thanks, Priscilla. I am as well. I’ve read they’ll turn the Vanishing Half into a series, and if they do it well it could be fantastic. Take care.

  2. This sounds like a book that lives up to its high praise, and that is good to see. Thanks for a detailed and interesting review, Olga.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Thanks, Pete. Yes, in this case, the hype is not really hype. I hope everything is going well. Thanks for taking the time to visit and enjoy the new kitchen floor. 🙂

  6. Great review, Olga. I think books like this are important in unpacking the US’s history (and current day) racism, and the fact that it’s a well written story is all the better. Thanks for sharing your thoughtful insights. Happy Reading.

Thanks, Diana. You’re right. I studied American Literature and there are many novels and books about the topic, but not all of them are well known today, and it’s important to reach a new generation of readers and include a variety of perspectives. Have a lovely week.

    1. Thanks, Sally. Yes, it is very timely. I’m sure the author has worked on it for a long time, but it has been published at the right time, that’s for sure. It’s a very compelling read. Thanks for sharing it and enjoy a great week. ♥
