I was born in Barcelona and have lived in the UK for many years now. I'm a writer, translator (English-Spanish and vice-versa) and I'm a medical doctor and worked in Forensic Psychiatry many years. I also have a BA and a PhD in American Literature and Film, and a Masters in Criminology. I've always loved books and apart from writing them I review them often. I write a bit of everything, check my books for more information and my about page for links. My blog is bilingual, English and Spanish.

  1. This sounds really good, Olga. Definitely one for the tbr pile.

It is, May. And scary. Enjoy the week!

  2. An interesting review, Olga. A problem with no reasonable answer. Europe can’t accept everyone from everywhere but on the other hand these people need help. The best way would be to help them rebuild their own countries, but the corrupt leaders must first be dealt with. It gives me a headache thinking about it. Congratulations on your new audio book.

Thanks ,Robbie. A complex problem, indeed, but there are some “solutions” that are definitely wrong. And thanks on the audio front. The series is now complete. Enjoy the rest of the week.

  3. Thank you Olga.

    1. Thanks, Rosie, for another great book. 🙂

  4. I could immediately see this working well as a film, or short TV series. I think she should talk to Armando Iannucci about collaborating on a script. 🙂
    Best wishes, Pet.

    1. You are right and your suggestion is great, Pete. I am sure you’d come up with some great casting options… Enjoy the rest of the week!

  5. Woot! Congratulations on the new audio book, Olga! I enjoyed the preview.
Thanks for a mindful review. I felt myself vacillating on whether I’d like it, but overall it sounds like a fun book. The title is certainly terrific. I hope all is well in your world. Hugs on the wing!

    1. Thanks, Teagan. The book is a satire, but it’s impossible not to cringe when one reads it and not to make comparisons with what happens in many places. Thanks for the comment about the audiobook. It’s the last one in the trilogy, so people who’d listened to the other two can now get the end of the story. The Storm Gloria is still going on and quite spectacular, although my mother’s apartment is not close to the seafront, but it’s causing major damages all around. Good luck with the new book and big hugs!

Well, as usual, I love your picks and reviews and the intrigue. Sounds like a ‘karmic’ kind of story. I’m definitely checking it out. 🙂 xx

Thanks, Debby. I did think of you as I read this book, and you’re right. This is karma with a vengeance for the protagonist. Enjoy the rest of the week!
