I was born in Barcelona and have lived in the UK for many years now. I'm a writer, translator (English-Spanish and vice-versa) and I'm a medical doctor and worked in Forensic Psychiatry many years. I also have a BA and a PhD in American Literature and Film, and a Masters in Criminology. I've always loved books and apart from writing them I review them often. I write a bit of everything, check my books for more information and my about page for links. My blog is bilingual, English and Spanish.

  1. An interesting review, Olga. I haven’t read this though I have read a few of her books and enjoyed them. She’s usually very good on relationships and family dynamics.

She is indeed, Mary. This book is just out. Different genres work differently. You would be a better judge of his it compares to her previous novels
It came out just last week, I think. Enjoy the week!

  2. Good review! It sounds like a complex novel with lots of interwoven story lines. Best of luck to Ms. Keyes on this upcoming release!

      1. Thanks Olga. I always need all the good luck I can get. LOL, I tend to have plenty of the other kind! o_O Have a wonderful weekend!

        1. You too! ♥

  4. Interesting review Olga… Marian Keyes certainly has a shelf of bestsellers and I read Rachel’s Holiday back in 2006 and enjoyed so time for me to revisit her books. thanks xxx

    1. Thanks, Sally. She’s very well-loved, and I’ll try to catch up with some of her other books as well. ♥

  5. I haven’t read any of her books, so looked her up. She is prolific!
Not sure about this one. It sounds perhaps too ‘Irish’ for me.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Thanks, Pete. She is prolific, you’re right. I was surprised as I thought she would be older, judging by the number of books she had published, but hey, kudos to her! Have a great week!

  6. I havr read a few books by Marion Keyes. She is a good writer. The last book of hers I read, however, was so depressing, I haven’t read her again since.

I understand that, Robbie. I wouldn’t say the book is sad, overall (it ends up, mostly, on a happy note), but from the comments I’ve read, some of her books have been quite funny, and this has some very hard moments. Enjoy the rest of the week!

  7. Narrated from different point of view makes the reading interesting, Olga. Thank you for sharing your review.

    1. Thanks, Miriam. It helps learn much more about the characters, for sure. All the best.

      1. Exactly, Olga. It’s reading the story from different dimension!

        1. 🙂

  8. Olga, a fascinating review and I’m taken with your alternative suggestions for the book at the end! I used to read a lot of her books but haven’t for a while … and I wonder if this isn’t for some of the reasons you mention in the review. Many thanks for sharing here!

    1. Thanks, Annika. I haven’t read any of her books, but I think, from the reviews, that her readers are a bit divided about this one. Although I read somewhere that she’d had a tough year, but I haven’t checked exactly what they meant.♥
