I was born in Barcelona and have lived in the UK for many years now. I'm a writer, translator (English-Spanish and vice-versa) and I'm a medical doctor and worked in Forensic Psychiatry many years. I also have a BA and a PhD in American Literature and Film, and a Masters in Criminology. I've always loved books and apart from writing them I review them often. I write a bit of everything, check my books for more information and my about page for links. My blog is bilingual, English and Spanish.

  1. It sounds fun, a part of history I certainly never studied. Good review!

    1. Thanks, Priscilla. I think none of us did! Have a great week.

  2. This feels as if he has reworked his ‘Horrible Histories’ for the adult market. Seems like great fun, and informative too.
    Best wishes, Pete.

Yes, although it seems that he has written quite a number of books for the adult market, but I hadn’t come across any until the one about The Peasants Revolting Crimes. It is fun (if sharp), informative, and it definitely has the heart in the right place as well. It’s important to remember everybody’s contributions, as we have often said.
Have a great week, Pete. I hope the home renovations are not too disruptive this time.

      1. Floor perpared and skimmed this morning. Flooring laid tomorrow afternoon. That will be the worst of it over for now. (And for a long time to come, I hope)
        Best wishes, Pete.

As usual, you find another interesting and different kind of book Olga. I do love the unusual. 🙂 Stay well my friend. <3

    1. Thanks, Debby. The author’s children’s books are very popular in the UK, but I’d never read any of them, so I was curious to see what he would write for adults. And it’s well worth a read, for sure. Enjoy the week and stay safe.

Already added to my lengthy list Olga <3

  4. Hi Olga, This sounds like a fascinating book, and it makes me think I wouldn’t really want to travel back in time. However, reading about it is another thing. Toni x

    1. You’re right, Toni. It might be fun if we were somebody wealthy or important, but being poor has never been fun, and it was even harder then. Take care.

  5. My boys and I love the Horrible History books, Olga. We have so many of them. This sounds like a terrific addition.

It is. He’s very witty and well-informed, and although this is not suitable for young children, it is funny and sharp. Enjoy the rest of the weekend and regards to the family.
