I was born in Barcelona and have lived in the UK for many years now. I'm a writer, translator (English-Spanish and vice-versa) and I'm a medical doctor and worked in Forensic Psychiatry many years. I also have a BA and a PhD in American Literature and Film, and a Masters in Criminology. I've always loved books and apart from writing them I review them often. 1. A beautiful review, Olga. I can’t wait to read Teagan’s latest. Thank you for hosting her launch today

    1. Thanks, John. I love Teagan’s stories, as I know you do, and I get the distinct feeling this one is going to be epic. Have a great year 2021!

  2. Hi, Olga. What a wonderful way to finish my day! Your review has me over the moon. Thank you for sharing it here and at Amazon. That really means a lot to me. I’m so very glad you enjoyed this first “journey.” I suppose it is something of a coming of age story at that, although it’s a unique one. Emlyn has many trials ahead of her. Have a wonderful week. Hugs on the wing!

    1. Thanks, Teagan, for giving me the opportunity to share the news and to accompany Emlyn on her journey. I look forward to the next journey. Take care and good luck with everything!

  3. Good luck to the lovely Teagan with her new series. She is such a good writer, and also a wonderfully supportive blogger.
    Great review, Olga.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Thank you kindly, Pete. I appreciate your encouragement and support. This story sprung from a difficult time ten years ago. And my style has changed since then. So it’s darker and more dangerous than what I started writing after I began blogging. The whimsy is still there — it’s just presented in a more serious way. Not a ghost story, but a story with ghosts… A fantasy, but the magic enters very gradually. It’s hard to categorize.
Have a wonderful week. Hugs on the wing!

    2. Thanks, Pete. You’re absolutely right. I’m sure if you get to read it, you’ll be casting the movie/TV version straight away. Enjoy the rest of the week and take care.

      1. Haha! I usually mentally “cast” my stories, but I didn’t so much ten years ago. The one character I clearly saw (he isn’t in Journey 1) is a young man from the farthest north of the cultures and countries I created for this story, named Hallgeir. I always saw him as a younger version of Alexander Skarsgård. Maybe as I edit and divide the novel into these Journeys, others will come to me. Anyway, there are plenty of characters for anyone who likes that kind of mental exercise. Meryl Streep might make a good Osabide…
        Cheers, Olga!

        1. I like the sound of that character already, Teagan! And Meryl Streep sounds perfect as well. ♥

    2. Thanks, Vashti. I know you are a fan of her writing and also interested in fantasy, so it’s a sure winner. It’s great to be able to help spread the word. Take care.

  5. Great review, Olga! I really enjoyed the story, too!

    1. Thanks, Mark. I saw your review as well. We have plenty to look forward to! Stay safe!

What a wonderful review, Olga. Now off to Amazon.
Hope all is well. I have been absent for a while.

    1. Thanks, Inese. Good to hear from you again.I hope you are all well. We’re still standing and keep going, that is not bad, all things considered. Stay safe. ♥

      1. inese says:

Thank you, Olga. Stay safe you too <3

    2. Hi Inese — it’s wonderful to see you! Thanks so much for stopping to leave a comment. I hope all is well in your world. Be well, be happy. Hugs on the wing!

Thank you, Teagan! Delighted your book is out. I have quite a collection of books, waiting for me to be ready to immerse myself in their stories. Congratulations again!

  7. Olga, great review. I also caught whiffs of the Handmaid’s Tale, althouthtTeagan writes that she has heard that before and has not read or seen the Handmaid’s Tail. Teagan, I am in awe of how many devoted fans you have that want to help you successfully launch what I think will be a fascinating new series. Well done, ladies!

    1. Thanks very much, Pat. There’s plenty of story to come yet, and I’m sure Teagan will guide us into many unexpected journeys yet. I’ve always been in awe of her imagination, and this will be another great example of it.
      Take care.

      1. You are so kind, Olga — thank you. Even though I haven’t read this in ten years, I remember one particular area where imagination was used to an intense degree. A setting related to Emlyn’s abilities. (I’m going “fresh” as I go along with the editing… It’s really like editing the work of someone else after so much time.) Have a beautiful new week. Hugs!

        1. It sounds promising! I know what you mean about going “fresh”. I’m translating into Catalan a book I published quite a few years back and it’s quite a trip down memory lane. Take care!

    2. Thank you kindly, Pat. Yeah… I really should look into The Handmaid’s Tale… but I saw the word “tragedy” in the description, and I avoid that. Thanks for making the rounds. I really appreciate you. Hugs on the wing!

  8. Excellent review, Olga. I liked learning your thoughts about fantasy in general as well your thoughts about Emlyn’s first journey. Teagan weaves a wonderful tale. I also enjoyed this one and am looking forward to the next. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Diana. Teagan is fabulous, and the next one sounds very promising as well, and a bit longer. I can’t wait!

      1. I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend, Olga. Storm coming here — great weather for working on Dead of Winter. 🙂 Stay safe and well. Hugs!

        1. Thanks, Teagan. Low-key but not bad. Had to cover a piece of news for the radio, an interesting local project. I’ve seen your comment, and I’m very happy things are on track for the next journey. I’m already looking forward to it.
          Take care.

    2. Thank you kindly, Diana. I just finished the second pass of edits to Journey 2. I’m happy to be on schedule. I’m so happy you enjoyed Journey 1. Hugs on the wing!
