I was born in Barcelona and have lived in the UK for many years now. I'm a writer, translator (English-Spanish and vice-versa) and I'm a medical doctor and worked in Forensic Psychiatry many years. I also have a BA and a PhD in American Literature and Film, and a Masters in Criminology. I've always loved books and apart from writing them I review them often. I write a bit of everything, check my books for more information and my about page for links. My blog is bilingual, English and Spanish.

  1. Pen and Sword do these so well, and this sounds like one of the best, Olga.
It is still quite expensive at the moment, even on Kindle, so I may buy a used paperbakc copy instead.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Thanks, Pete. Yes, they do. They sometimes have interesting deals on their website, so it’s worth having a look as well. Take care.

      1. Glad you got the comment. I received Gateway Timeout again, so sent you an email. x

        1. Thanks, Pete. Yes, I got your e-mail. I’ve checked the Jetpack settings and changed a few, but there are so many… We shall see. Otherwise, I might deactivate the plugging and see. Of course, they must just be trying to encourage people to get the paid option, but, as I tell you in my email, I’m paying more than enough already. Thanks again for taking the time. ♥

Thanks Olga. Up my alley as you know. Added to the list! <3

    1. I knew you’d like the sound of this one. Stay safe. ♥

Of course! I’ve written down, because the book isn’t even showing yet on Amazon. <3

        1. I suspect it might depend on the publisher’s distribution network, although I know they are working on getting e-copies of all their books as well, so I hope it will be available soon, although as I get early copies of some of their books, they are not always widely available yet. ♥

Yes, I’ve noticed that with many of your reviews. Lucky you! <3

          2. NetGalley is a pretty good place for review copies, but I came across Pen & Sword through one of their authors, and they have a great catalogue. It’s difficult to keep up with the reviews, though, but I don’t need to tell you that! 😉

            Lol, no you don’t 🙂

          4. 🙂

  3. This is a wonderful review, Olga. I am also fascinated by the circumstances of civilians and children living through wars.

    1. Thanks, Robbie. I know you and your mother have written about your mother’s experience during WWII, and I was sure you’d be interested in this book. It is fascinating. Take care. ♥

  4. A superb review, Olga – it sounds like a truly fascinating, and moving, book.

    1. It is, Toni. It’s amazing to think how much impact the war had on the children, well beyond what I had realised. Take care.
