I was born in Barcelona and have lived in the UK for many years now. I'm a writer, translator (English-Spanish and vice-versa) and I'm a medical doctor and worked in Forensic Psychiatry many years. I also have a BA and a PhD in American Literature and Film, and a Masters in Criminology. I've always loved books and apart from writing them I review them often. I write a bit of everything, check my books for more information and my about page for links. My blog is bilingual, English and Spanish.

  1. Olga, you’ve outdone yourself. Your mindful commentary is fascinating as always. The scope of your collected reviews — and of these books is extraordinary. Well done, my friend. Hugs on the wing!

    1. Thanks, Teagan. This is a fabulous collection, and I’ve discovered many talented authors thanks to it. Stay safe and big hugs! (Oh, and the review of journeys 7 and 8 coming up next week). ♥

  2. I really like the sound of the first four, especially ‘Blood Rose Angel’. This does sound like a compelling box set indeed, Olga. I will be investigating the sales links.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Thanks, Pete. Liza is one of my favourite authors, and she writes beautifully both, historical fiction and contemporary (well, more recent) stories, often set in Australia. But I’ve discovered new authors I’ll watch out for now, and these collections are a great way to grab a few great reads in one go. I know you have plenty to read already, but I enjoyed not having to choose or worry about what to read next, and they were all good in their own way.
      Stay safe.

  3. HI Olga, these all sound good but the LIsa Perrat one appeals to me the most. You certainly have been busy.

    1. Thanks, Robbie. Liza’s story is great, and I’m sure you’d enjoy it, with your interest in history. That whole series is great, although each book can be read independently, but once you get going, it is difficult to resist. I was worried about taking the boxed set on, but there was such variety and the novels were so well-written, that I had a great time. They kept me company over the holiday. Enjoy the rest of the week, Robbie.

  6. Thanks so much for this brilliant review! I’m the publisher of Vine Leaves Press and also one of my novels will be included in part two: Not Little Women. I really appreciate the work and time you have put into this review. If only there were more people like you out there!

    1. Thanks very much! It was a wonderful opportunity to discover new authors and a fabulous selection. Not everybody realises how important reviews are and many people don’t think about writing one, but it is a great way to help readers and authors alike. Thanks for all your hard work and good luck!

  7. Hi Olga, thanks so much from another happy author. What thoughtful detailed and considered reviews these all are.

    1. Thanks, Clare. I had to write a brief version for Amazon, as it went over the number of words, but my blog followers know I like to write detailed reviews. I never know what might click with somebody. Oh, and loved the story and the setting. It brought quite a few memories back. Stay well, congratulations, and good luck!

  8. What a wonderful, thorough, interesting review! I’m so glad you loved these books as much as I did and many many thanks for the time you’ve taken writing your response.

    1. Thanks, Jean. They kept me company during my holidays and made them much more interesting, for sure! We can all do with a good story these days, and having five in a boxed set is a luxury. Congratulations on participating in Not Little Women, the second part of the boxed set, I hope it gets all of your work to the attention of a large readership. Stay well and good luck with all your projects.

  9. Thank you Olga.

    1. Thanks, Rosie!
