I was born in Barcelona and have lived in the UK for many years now. I'm a writer, translator (English-Spanish and vice-versa) and I'm a medical doctor and worked in Forensic Psychiatry many years. I also have a BA and a PhD in American Literature and Film, and a Masters in Criminology. I've always loved books and apart from writing them I review them often. I write a bit of everything, check my books for more information and my about page for links. My blog is bilingual, English and Spanish.

  2. This looks like an accomplished and interesting novel that deals with many issues that could well resonate with readers. Good luck to Liza with her new book.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Sorry! (Not really, though, Debby. If you haven’t read any of Liza Perrat’s books, I don’t hesitate recommending them all. A fabulous writer, and she always touches on great subjects). Have a lovely Wednesday! 😉

  5. I hadn’t heard of Liza Perrat before seeing this review so thank you for introducing me to a new-to-me author, especially a WorldReads one! This looks like just the sort of writing I enjoy

    1. She is fabulous, Stephanie. I’m sure you’ll enjoy all her books. Happy reading!

  6. I appreciate your detailed review, Olga. When I saw the title I was expecting a whimsical cozy mystery. I see that I was quite mistaken. I’m sure it is a lovely drama. Best to Liza. Happy weekend hugs!

    1. Thanks, Teagan. No, Liza doesn’t do cozy mysteries, or at least she hasn’t so far. There is a magpie in the story but it is not the main protagonist, and although there are secrets, they are mostly family secrets. Enjoy your weekend.

Thanks so much for a lovely review, Olga!

    1. Thanks, Liza. I know I am onto a winner with your books and this one doesn’t disappoint. This topic is of special interest to me as I worked with a woman who had gone through a similar experience when she was young. In her case, her son reconnected with her when he was older, although unfortunately the story had a sad ending. The comments about the impact such separation has on all parties made me think about them again. Good luck with this book and with the rest of the series and I hope to feature more of your books in the near future. ♥
