I was born in Barcelona and have lived in the UK for many years now. I'm a writer, translator (English-Spanish and vice-versa) and I'm a medical doctor and worked in Forensic Psychiatry many years. I also have a BA and a PhD in American Literature and Film, and a Masters in Criminology. I've always loved books and apart from writing them I review them often. I write a bit of everything, check my books for more information and my about page for links. My blog is bilingual, English and Spanish.

  1. I’ve got this to read and am looking forward to it (it’s not out till January in the UK so I’m holding off for now). I love thrillers with dark humour.

    1. Thanks, Kate. I got quite confused about the date, because I got an e-mail saying it was out, and I started reading it, and then I realised it wasn’t out everywhere at the same time. As I now live in Spain it gets trickier to keep track. I also enjoy dark humour (in almost every genre)!

  2. A different geographical setting for a familiar genre makes this more appealing.
I could sense your enjoyment from the review, Olga, and that makes all the difference. 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Thanks, Pete. Oh, yes, the setting makes a huge difference here, although the characters are also very good. I hope you have a great week.

Sounds like another interesting read Olga. I love all these ‘different’ types of books you find and share with us 🙂 x

    1. Thanks, Debby. I’m not sure when this one comes out in Canada, but it is receiving a lot of attention in the US. And I’ve met the author in Twitter and she seems lovely. Enjoy the rest of the week! ♥

Thanks for that Olga. I’ve bookmarked on Amazon so I’m sure they’ll update me. <3

        1. They are very good at that. I hope you enjoy it. ♥

  4. Olga, I love the way you told me about this book. I may have been a little confused or at least uncertain, just looking at the cover, and reading the publisher reviews. However, you’ve certainly made me want to read it. I hope you’re having a wonderful week.
Yesterday some progress (toward getting the house) with the bank, numerous inspections, and coordinating everything with insurance agents, realtor, and inspectors. On to the office now. Hugs.

    1. Thanks, Teagan. The news on the house front sound hopeful. Fingers crossed! ♥

  5. A most interesting review, Olga. Not a book I would read though. Crime in Africa is a horrendous thing. The body of a good friend of mine was found floating in a suburban recreational dam on Wednesday. The police think he was murdered.

    1. Thanks, Robbie. I am sorry to hear about your friend. Terrible news, especially for his friends and family, and the uncertainty of not knowing what happened. I hope you all get some closure at least. My condolences to you and to his family.
Unfortunately, crime is everywhere around, only we seem to hear more about it in some places than others. All the best.

  6. Sounds perfect. On my tbr pile. Thanks Olga <3

    1. Thanks, Christoph. I’m sure you’ll enjoy this one. And Ryan will as well. Love to him and the girls. ♥
