I was born in Barcelona and have lived in the UK for many years now. I'm a writer, translator (English-Spanish and vice-versa) and I'm a medical doctor and worked in Forensic Psychiatry many years. I also have a BA and a PhD in American Literature and Film, and a Masters in Criminology. I've always loved books and apart from writing them I review them often. I write a bit of everything, check my books for more information and my about page for links. My blog is bilingual, English and Spanish.

Riveting review Olga. I love this genre, right my alley. Hopping over to Amazon <3

    1. I’m sure you’ll love it, Debby. I almost missed it because I had not received the review copy, but I’m very happy I got it in time. It is beautifully written. And thanks for sharing the review! ♥

I’ve added to my Amazon list as it’s not yet out in Kindle version, but looking forward to reading it when it comes available. <3

        1. Thanks, Debby. I think it’s one of those books that has different dates of release and different formats in different places. Sometimes they launch some of these books as hardbacks first. Mind you, the cover is so pretty that I wouldn’t mind at all. I must confess I’m curious about some of the author’s other novels, especially the Great Stink

Me too Olga. And I’ve added from my own bookstore here in Canada too in paperback. I hate hard covers, they are to heavy to hold while reading in bed, lol. 🙂

          2. I look forward to reading your review, Debby, although I know it might take you a while to get to it even when you get it! 🙂

Thanks Olga. Oh yes, I won’t be getting to it for some time lol 🙂

I l love art, history, and art history. Brilliant cover!

    1. Thanks, Marian. I can’t resist books about art and art history either, and yes, I try not to judge a book by its cover, but this one matches the beautiful writing as well. I hope you enjoy it!

  3. This sounds like an extraordinary book, Olga. Fantastic review.

    1. Thanks, Robbie. The author is well-known but I hadn’t come across her yet. I know you enjoy historical novels and are very creative. I think you’ll enjoy it. Have a sweet day!

  4. Thanks , sold to the gentleman with the four labradoodles. Great write up!

    1. Thanks, Christoph! I’m sure you’ll love this one, and there is another review coming up that might intrigue you as well. Love to Ryan and all the girls! I’m sure they are looking after you (in a manner of speaking!). ♥

  5. Great review, Olga. For you to describe a book as ‘beautiful’ is the best recommendation I can imagine. And the setting of Berlin between the wars is something I find very appealing too.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Thanks, Pete. Yes, I think you’ll enjoy the setting and all the little details as well. I had to read it pretty quickly because of the blog tour, but I’m sure I’ll reread it at some point. I hope you enjoy it if you get to it.
      All the best.

  6. Throrough and honest review as always, Olga. There are so many great novels being published which are set in Germany during, between and around the two world wars. Anotherone for my list!

    1. Thanks, Luccia. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the writing, and the story. Have a great day.

  7. As always an excellent review Olga…

    1. Thanks, Sally! ♥

  8. This is such a knowledgeable and detailed review, Olga. Excellent!

    1. Thanks, Rob. For some reason your comments ended up in spam. But I’m sure you’d enjoy this one. I found it inspiring and I’m no good at visual arts. Have a great week!

      1. I’ve been finding legit comments in my spam folder too. I enjoy a good review. I read film reviews even if I don’t intend to see the movie. 🙂

        1. Thanks, Rob. Sometimes the reviews are more interesting than the film (or the book) and they can say plenty about the reviewer. 😉

          1. A good review or piece of criticism is often interesting on its own and often says plenty about the reviewer.

          2. Very true! 🙂

  9. I love reading your reviews Olga, and I know I will love the book. The eye catching cover gave me a hint indeed, and after I read about the settings I knew it’s the right book for me <3

    1. I think you will love this one, Inese. The art comments will resonate with you, for sure, and I know you’ll find the setting interesting as well. Thanks for visiting and enjoy it! ♥
