I was born in Barcelona and have lived in the UK for many years now. I'm a writer, translator (English-Spanish and vice-versa) and I'm a medical doctor and worked in Forensic Psychiatry many years. I also have a BA and a PhD in American Literature and Film, and a Masters in Criminology. I've always loved books and apart from writing them I review them often. I write a bit of everything, check my books for more information and my about page for links. My blog is bilingual, English and Spanish.

  1. Nice review! Yeah, you probably have too much behind the scenes knowledge to enjoy the book as much as other readers might.

Thanks, Priscilla! Some reviewers spotted plot holes as well, but I hope some of the ones I saw have been sorted before final publication. Have a great week!

  2. I have ‘The Girl In The Ice’ on my wish list, based on so many positive reviews.
Not sure I will tackle this one though, as I try to avoid ‘serial characters’ that appear in lots of similar books.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. If you get to read it, let me know how it is. I’m not sure based on this experience I’ll try any other books by this writer, although I hope they have improved the final version, and yes, there are many positive reviews, so there might be more attention to detail (and I think the genre is slightly different). Happy new week, Pete!

  3. Sounds as though more research was needed! Thanks for the thoughtful review, Olga. Your book looks great, by the way 🙂

    1. Thanks, Jacquie. Yes, I understand some things are tricky to find out, but some other reviewers have found plot holes as well, so it might depend on how many thrillers one reads. Although there are genres that require a bit more checking than others. And thanks for the comment about my book. It was fun to write! Have a fantastic week!

I always appreciate your honest reviews Olga. You had me at ‘not for the faint of heart’, that was enough to step away, lol. 🙂 xx

Thanks, Debby. Not one for you, definitely. You might be interested in my Tuesday review, though. Enjoy the week!

  6. Thanks for sharing, Olga. I am not that big on this genre so would only read if it really appealed to you. Have a wonderful weekend.

      Happy weekend!

  7. Thanks for being so professional, fair and honest in your review, Olga. We usually have to stretch our disbelief in all works of fiction, but sometimes it’s just too much, we all have different limits. I enjoyed his novel, the girl in the ice, I’ll try this sample.
