I was born in Barcelona and have lived in the UK for many years now. I'm a writer, translator (English-Spanish and vice-versa) and I'm a medical doctor and worked in Forensic Psychiatry many years. I also have a BA and a PhD in American Literature and Film, and a Masters in Criminology. I've always loved books and apart from writing them I review them often. I write a bit of everything, check my books for more information and my about page for links. My blog is bilingual, English and Spanish.

  1. It sounds grim but enthralling, too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Olga, on the advanced copy you received.

    1. Thanks, Priscilla. The subject is quite harsh and tough at times, but the writing is beautiful, and the author always has a way of digging deep into the psyche of his characters. I hope you have a great week.

  2. Hi Olga, I’ve been following your blog for several years now, and have often thought about getting in touch. Now is the moment as I’d like to tell you about a Novella I’ve written based on a strong female historical figure of The Alhambra. I would be delighted if you had a few moments, (14,000words) if you were interested, to take a look and let me know what you think.
If this is inappropriate, I apologise. It’s just that I would greatly value your opinion as I have read so many of your insightful reviews of other writers.
    Kind regards.
    Marie.

    1. Thanks, Marie. Congratulations on writing your novella. I’ll send you an e-mail, so we can chat in more detail about this. All the best and thanks for following my blog and for getting in touch.

  3. I bought a copy of Beaudelaire’s Revenge based on your review at the time. I have to confess I still haven’t read it. I seem to have lost the ‘book-reading’ gene since the start of the pandemic. It will hopefully come back to me one day.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Thanks, Pete. I had the same problem at first, although, thankfully, I’ve recovered my interest in reading. Writing, on the other hand… (Mind you, I’m doing plenty of writing, but not fiction).
As far as the story is concerned, I think you’d enjoy this one, as I know you are interested in history and politics.
      Have a great week, Pete!

    1. Yes, I think this one will hit the right spot for you in many ways. Take care and enjoy the rest of the week!

  5. It is always lovely to be involved with a book’s developmental journey, Olga. This certainly sounds very interesting.

    1. Thanks, Robbie. Absolutely. It is a privilege, and this is such a special story… Stay well and good luck with all your projects.
