I was born in Barcelona and have lived in the UK for many years now. I'm a writer, translator (English-Spanish and vice-versa) and I'm a medical doctor and worked in Forensic Psychiatry many years. I also have a BA and a PhD in American Literature and Film, and a Masters in Criminology. I've always loved books and apart from writing them I review them often. I write a bit of everything, check my books for more information and my about page for links. My blog is bilingual, English and Spanish.

  1. It sounds like you loved the book! Great review. I enjoyed the quotes you pulled.

    1. It is a joy, and it was a good break from some heavy academic reading I’m doing at the moment. Stay well, Priscilla, and good luck with your writing.

  4. It sounds wonderful, Olga.

    1. It is! It was a nice change as well. A fairy tale for all ages. Enjoy the rest of the week, Luccia, and good luck with your writing and your books.

  5. Despite your examples of the very good writing, I’m afraid sorcery and fantsasy is not something I enjoy. Good luck to M.L. Farb with her book though, that genre has a huge readership.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Thanks, Pete. I didn’t think this would be your kind of book, but it is great fun and very well written for those who like the genre. Enjoy the rest of the week!

    1. The book reminded me of you quite often, as the book shows a lot of interest in mythology, legends, and fairy tales (German in this case), also the research into the names, the beautiful descriptions… I think you’d enjoy it. Stay well and good luck with all your writing.

  7. This sounds amazing, Olga. I love fantasy, especially when it’s so original! I’m going to have to scurry over to Amazon to put it on my wishlist. Thanks for the recommendation and the enthusiastic review. 🙂

  9. Hi Olga, books based on fairy tales seem to be popular recently. I’ve not actually heard of this particular story, but this book sounds quite compelling.

    1. Thanks, Robbie. I don’t think it’s one of the most popular ones, at least here, but the author got inspired by one of her son’s dreams as well. I don’t remember the original fairy tale too well, but I am sure it wasn’t as enjoyable as this story. Good luck with everything.

  10. This does sound utterly delightful, Olga. Toni x

    1. It absolutely is, Toni. I think you’d love it. Have a lovely week!

  11. Another great review, Olga, and you’ve piqued my interest. Congratulations to M.L. Farb, too!
    Take care, Lauren

    1. I had a great time reading this one, and I will try and read more of the author’s work. Take care! 🙂
