I was born in Barcelona and have lived in the UK for many years now. I'm a writer, translator (English-Spanish and vice-versa) and I'm a medical doctor and worked in Forensic Psychiatry many years. I also have a BA and a PhD in American Literature and Film, and a Masters in Criminology. I've always loved books and apart from writing them I review them often. I write a bit of everything, check my books for more information and my about page for links. My blog is bilingual, English and Spanish.

  1. I’m totally fine with horror elements and multi-genre stories. I’m intrigued. Great review, Olga!

    1. Thanks, Priscilla. When the mix works, it can greatly enhance the story, I agree. I wasn’t familiar with this author, but he does a great job. Have a great week!

  2. I bought ‘The Dry’ based on your review, so will be adding this one to my Amazon Wish List too, Olga.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Thanks, Pete. It is pretty atmospheric, and I am sure you would feel, like me, that it would make an excellent movie (although it would be quite a challenge to bring it to the screen). Stay well and enjoy the rest of the week.

Intriguing review Olga, but definitely not in my reading wheelhouse. <3

    1. Thanks, Debby. I know you don’t go for scary stories, and this one gets quite creepy at times. I hope you enjoy the rest of your break. Take care! ♥

  4. Hi Olga This sounds like a most intriguing book. I’m find with a genre mixture, I do that in my own writing which is historical, adventure, and paranormal. Thanks for this review.

    1. Thanks, Robbie. Yes, I did think of you as I read this novel, and I know you are quite flexible with the genre mix. It is very effective when is done well. Enjoy the rest of the week.

  5. Hi Olga. I’m sorry to be so late. Even though I’m not a huge horror fan, the concept here sounds terrific. It’s no surprise that I like a genre “mash up.” Thanks for your remarks about the side characters. I enjoy that kind of thing. This one really does sound good. Thanks for sharing it with us. I gather the author already enjoys various forms of success, but wishing him more with this novel. Stay safe and well. Hugs on the wing!

    1. Thanks, Teagan. Yes, I know horror is not everybody’s favourite genre, but I do love it. It is easy to see the screenwriting skills of the author when one reads the novel. It’s very visual and the action scenes jump off the page. I hope everything is progressing well and look forward to catching up with all your projects in the future. Stay safe and creative. Big hugs.

  6. A great review, Olga. This sounds like a thoroughly enjoyable read. I’m not a huge horror fan, but like it in small doses. Toni x

    1. Thanks, Toni. It is quite a read! Stay safe!
