I was born in Barcelona and have lived in the UK for many years now. I'm a writer, translator (English-Spanish and vice-versa) and I'm a medical doctor and worked in Forensic Psychiatry many years. I also have a BA and a PhD in American Literature and Film, and a Masters in Criminology. I've always loved books and apart from writing them I review them often. I write a bit of everything, check my books for more information and my about page for links. My blog is bilingual, English and Spanish.

  1. Though I like thrillers, it’s been a long time since I spent a lot of time with the genre. So I shouldn’t be surprised that I’m not familiar with Baldacci. Your analysis

  2. Blast this Kindle and auto-mess up. Thanks for the helpful review, Olga. Hugs.

    1. Thanks, Teagan. I keep seeing his books every time I go to the supermarket or the bookshop (and they feature prominently in charity shops) but I had not read one yet. After reading so many independent books I just wanted to see if I was missing much. I guess not is the answer.

  3. I have never really got caught up in these ‘serial’ characters. I used to find that each book was too similar to the next, until they become a ‘by the numbers’ adventure, with only the change of location, and a new ‘mission’. The best example I can think of is Tom Clancy. Despite being excited by ‘The Hunt For Red October’, I never felt the same about his later books.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Thanks, Pete. I guess you either connect with the character, or not. I don’t mind reading serials if there is more to them than just the same stories, but yes, I’m not sure this is my thing either. Have a great week.

    1. Yes. Now, at least I can say I’ve read one of his books.

It’s been a long time since I’ve read a book that wasn’t from an Indie author. I used to enjoy Baldacci’s books. If I ever get through my TBR I’d love to read some mainstream authors I always enjoyed. 🙂 x

    1. Yes, the same here. I’ve picked up a few from well-known authors I have never read yet and I’ll try and sprinkle them along with the other books I have to read. Have a good Wednesday!

You know, I don’t think I’ve ever actually read one of his books either!

    Good review, as usual!

    1. Thanks, Lilyn. I am trying to pick up some of the writers I haven’t read yet to add to my long list… I must organize myself better and join one of the challenges next year. It would give me a good excuse to read… whatever!

  6. Helpful review, Olga. I enjoy thrillers, so I’ll probably add this to my TBR list. Thank you!

    1. Thanks, Vashti. I might try a different series at some point, as many of his followers seemed to like others much more. He definitely knows how to keep the story moving.;) Have a great weekend.
